Scrap metal fire reported at CMC recycling in Anderson

ANDERSON, SC (WSPA) Anderson City Fire Department officials said firefighters responded to a scrap metal fire at a recycling plant on North Gossett Street Monday afternoon.

According to Lt. Travis Poore, the call about the fire at CMC recycling came in just after 2 p.m. and said it was almost under control a little after 3 p.m.

They are in the process of moving around the pile with the tractors on scene and hitting the hot spots on the bottom of the pile, Poore said. DHEC is aware of the situation and allowing us to monior the air and the water run off in the surrounding area, which bother are within limits.

Poore said fire crews would be on-scene for about another hour.

Anderson City Fire, along with Homeland Park Fire Department and Medshore, all responded to the scene.
