GREENVILLE COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – A search for a suspect has put two area schools on lockdown in Greenville County.
According to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were given information that a stolen vehicle was in the area of Daisy Drive and Jacobs Road.
Deputies located the vehicle and the driver got out of the vehicle and ran.
According to GCSO’s Ryan Flood, deputies are still searching for the driver in the area and have placed Southside High School and Thomas Kerns Elementary School on lockdown.
Southside High School officials confirmed they are on a partial lockdown at this time, as advised by the sheriff’s office.
Thomas Kerns Elementary School’s Dr. Mark Adams also confirmed they are on a controlled dismissal.
Adams said the car pickup process was organized inside the building and students were walked to their cars by teachers or staff members.
Bus procedures were the same, but extra precaution was taken.
