Sex offender was near school days before meth, pill arrest, say Henderson Co. deputies


HENDERSON Co., NC (WSPA) – Investigators discovered a sex offender had been near or on middle school grounds days before he was arrested on meth and pill charges, according to the Henderson Co. Sheriff’s Office.

It happened on August 9 on Stoney Mountain Rd.

Deputies assisted officers with NC Dept. of Public Safety Probation in reference to an active parole violation on 43 year-old James Edward Tesnear Jr. 

Investigators say they found meth, prescription pills and drug paraphernalia.

He is charged with:

β€’ Possession with intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine 
β€’ Maintaining a vehicle with controlled substance  
β€’ Possession of drug paraphernalia 

On August 15, detectives with the Special Victims Unit and Safety Probation determined Tesnear Jr. was on or about the property of Apple Valley Middle School on August 7 between 3:55 p.m. and 4:05 p.m.

Tesnear Jr. was tracked via the monitoring system he wears as part of his probationary status, according to the report.

He is now charged with Being a Sex Offender on Child Premises.

He is in jail on a $27,000 secured bond on the drug and sex offender charge and is under no bond for a parole/ probation violation, according to the sheriff’s office.
