CHEROKEE COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – Cherokee County deputies are investigating after a man was injured in a shooting near Broad River Friday morning.
Deputies responded to Ninety-Nine Ferry Road near River Valley Drive in Gaffney at about 9:38 p.m.
Officers found a 37-year-old white male victim who had been shot off the road near the edge of the woods.
The shooting victim was treated on scene and transported via helicopter to Spartanburg Regional with non life- threatening injuries, deputies said.
The victim had sustained one gunshot wound to his hip/waist area with the bullet traveling down into his leg, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies say the male victim and a female on scene were not able to provide any suspect information.
Investigators say the female left the scene to call law enforcement due to a poor cell phone signal in the area. They say she stayed away for a period of time before returning to the scene to speak with investigators.
Investigators were called to the scene to gather and collect evidence.
They will be reviewing video footage obtained on the dead-end road to learn more about what may have taken place.
Investigators do not feel the community is in any danger as a result of this shooting incident.
