SIMPSONVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) – While interviewing siblings Daniel and Heather Willets at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport, we found out that Heather, who flew in from Denver, and Daniel, who flew in from Boise, Idaho, were on a secret mission.
The pair decided to plan a surprise family reunion, and told us this will be the first time their family will all be together in nearly seven years.
“We are here surprising our family,” Heather said. “They don’t know we’re here for Thanksgiving.”
So they jumped in an Uber, braved the traffic and hid down the block, allowing our 7News crew to tag along in their mission.
Once at their home, Heather took out her phone and called her dad.
“Sorry it took us a few minutes,” she told him. “We were stuck in traffic. I’m having a little trouble FaceTiming you, though.”
When they finally knock on the door and their sister opens it with screams of joy.
Their mother, Mrs. Willets says, “We’re overwhelmed, it’s such a blessing,” their mom told us. “We have our whole family together, this is great. This is more than we could ever hope for.”
And their surprise took a lot of planning and travel to make their mission a success. Daniel even took the red-eye flight to get there.
And was it worth it?
“Oh absolutely,” Daniel said. “I would do it again in a heartbeat.”
