Simpsonville city administrator dies from heart attack


SIMPSONVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) – The city administrator of Simpsonville died Saturday night in North Carolina after suffering a heart attack.

According to government officials, Eddie Case was showing horses in North Carolina when he suddenly passed.

Case has been with the city of Simpsonville since January 2017. He previously served the city of Fountain Inn as administrator and had been a city council member for 20 years.

A special council meeting will be held in Simpsonville on Monday night to discuss appointing an interim city administrator.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Heritage Funeral Home, according to an obituary.

The funeral starts at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fountain Inn First Baptist Church.

The city of Simpsonville released the following statement regarding Case’s death:

The City of Simpsonville is saddened to announce the passing of City Administrator Eddie Case.  Mr. Case was a dedicated public servant to the City of Simpsonville and will be greatly missed.

Eddie Case was appointed to City Administrator in January 2017. Although he was only our leader for a short period of time, he will be remembered fondly for his service to the city.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Case family during this difficult time.”
