SLED investigating Anderson Co. inmate death

ANDERSON COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – Anderson County Sheriff’s Office officials said the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is investigating an inmate’s death.

According to a sheriff’s office news release, detention center employees found an inmate unresponsive while performing routine checks on Monday.

Medical staff and EMS personnel responded and the inmate was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Anderson County Coroner’s Office identified the man as 59-year-old James Terry White.

According to the coroner, White died of natural causes as a result of underlying medical conditions.

SLED will continue to investigate the inmate’s death.
