SLED investigator receives 2019 Billy Wilkins Award

GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) – A South Carolina Law Enforcement Division investigator received the 2019 Billy Wilkins Award for Excellence in Law Enforcement Thursday. 

The award was established in 1984 as a way to honor law enforcement officers who have exhibited outstanding attributes in performance of their duties in the field and the courtroom. 

The Thirteenth Circuit Solicitor’s Office and the Greenville County Bar Association chose Lieutenant Eugene Gerard Donohue. 

The award ceremony was held at the Greenville County Courthouse as part of Law Week celebration. 

Donohue began his career in law enforcement as a Greenville County deputy in 1984. 

Donohue held various roles with the sheriff’s office before he joining SLED in 1999. 

Many of Donohue’s family members also had careers in law enforcement careers. His father, sister and brother are FBI agents. Another one of his brothers is lieutenant at the GCSO.
