A Pickens man is in custody after police say he shot and killed his father.
The incident happened on Bivens Street shortly before 11 p.m. on Thursday. Pickens Police say when they arrived, they found the victim, Joseph Wright, with a gunshot wound to his side. Wright was taken to the hospital where he later died.
Police have now charged the victim’s son, 17-year-old Joshua W. Wright, with Manslaughter and Discharge of a Firearm inside City Limits. Officers haven’t released any details about what led up to the shooting, except to say there was an altercation at the residence before it took place.
The investigation is still ongoing.
7 On Your Side spoke to neighbors, Friday, who say they’ve seen increased yelling and police presence on their once quiet street. They voiced their concerns and we took them straight to the Pickens Police.
They said they’ve been called out several times to the address where the shooting occurred. Each time, they responded to a “domestic” situation. They says this time things turned deadly.
