UNION, S.C. (WSPA) — An Easter celebration ended when a man allegedly pointed a gun at people, including children, before firing the weapon into the air.

Nicolas Hunter Woods, 20, is charged with pointing a firearm and discharging a firearm. Police say Woods’ mother, 44-year-old Julie Woods, also pointed and presented a firearm during a heated exchange in Union.

Officers responded to a call of a man firing a gun outside an apartment complex on Barnado Road.

A man told police his family was celebrating Easter when Nicolas Woods yelled at the victim’s son about taking a ball away from his kid.

Witnesses said Woods tried to start a fight before returning with a gun that he pointed at children and others gathered to celebrate before firing the weapon, according to a police report.

Adults reportedly grabbed the children and ran for cover.

Woods told police that he confronted the parents about a child being mean to his son and men attempted to jump on him.

Police say Julie Woods claimed she fired a gun towards the ground to get people away from her apartment during the confrontation.

Another woman was also arrested in connection.

Police charged Makeira Mance, 22 ,of Spartanburg with disorderly conduct.  She’s accused of confronting Nicolas Woods and his girlfriend with a garden rake during the fracas.
