Spartanburg firefighters canvass for raises, working to keep staff

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) – Spartanburg city firefighters knocked on doors Saturday, raising awareness of their need for better pay.

This comes ahead of a city council meeting Monday night. The city is proposing a raise for every Spartanburg firefighter.

They say a quarter of their staff has left since January, and better pay means more people will stay.
