SPARTANBURG Co., SC (WSPA) — Libraries are launching their summer reading programs, but Spartanburg County Public Libraries is trying to make reading too tempting for families to pass up.
The Loco for Local Foods event is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 5.
Local chefs will have food for attendees.
Restaurants participating in the event include Belue Farms, Blue Moon Specialty Foods, Brown’s Meat Market, Burg’r Boys, Cakehead Bakery, Carolina Honey Bee, Dottie’s Toffee, Downtown Deli and Donuts, Granny Jan’s Homemade Fudge, Holmes Sweets, Hub City Co-op, Hub City Farmers’ Market, King of Pops, Love Where You Live, Oak Creek Naturals, Produce 365 Microgreens, The Streatery, Sugah Cakes, The Tea Obsession, Those Pickle Ladies.
This is the sixth year for the event at the Headquarters Library in downtown Spartanburg . It’s a chance for parents to introduce kids to reading in a fun way while also preventing the summer slide, a period during the summer when children could forget information learned during the school year.
