SPARTANBURG Co., S.C. (WSPA) — A man is behind bars almost three months after a fight and stabbing in Spartanburg County.

Jimmy Ray Carroll, 48, of Spartanburg was jailed Monday for an  aggravated assault charge.

Deputies found a man stabbed in the stomach at a home on Sunset Circle on Jan. 31, according to a Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office report.

The report says the victim had an eight-inch cut.

A witness told deputies that Carroll and the victim got into an argument that turned physical when Carroll punched the victim – knocking out one of the victim’s teeth.

The report say the witness stepped in to break up the fight when Carroll drew a knife.

The victim told deputies he didn’t realize he was stabbed until the fight was broken up.

He was taken to a hospital for his injury.

Carroll remains in the Spartanburg County Detention Center under a $7,500 bond, according to jail records.
