Spartanburg native to appear on “The Worst Cooks in America”

News

A Spartanburg native is getting ready to appear on a Food Network show.

Carla Waddell has had a lot of trouble in the kitchen, but she will defend her honor on “The Worst Cooks in America,” which airs Aug. 12.

“My worst dish ever is collard greens because I didn’t know how to season them. It did not turn out like your mama’s collard greens,” Waddell said.

Her parents and two kitchen-savvy sisters pushed her to audition. Believe it or not, she was so bad, she made the cut.

Waddell will be one of 14 people to enter this cooking boot camp and competing for a slot in the Top Two Most Improved, meaning $25,000 is on the line.

“I do want to come at Christmas with a side dish that says Carla made this with love,” Waddell said.

She says she has a long way to go, but has learned a lot.

The show airs at 9 p.m. Sunday on the Food Network.
