SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) — Days after a man told police he was robbed at gunpoint, the robbery suspect was hurt in a shooting, police reports say.
Spartanburg police responded Wednesday to a shooting. The victim, Tyshawn Blocker, was driven to Mary Black Hospital for treatment.
Blocker told police he was at the intersection of N. Pine and Isom streets when a driver and passenger in another car pulled up and opened fire.
Blocker was shot twice.
He was driven to the hospital by his girlfriend, the report says.
Blocker, 19, of Spartanburg is now behind bars.
Four days before the shooting, Blocker was reportedly identified as the suspect in an armed robbery.
A man reported to police that Blocker approached him at the corner of Kingston and Maywood streets and asking to buy his pants.
The report says the victim refused to sell the pants. That’s when the victim stated Blocker put a gun to his head and demanded the pants and victim’s cell phone.
Blocker is in the Spartanburg County Detention Center under $20,000 bond for an armed robbery charge, according to jail records.
