DORCHESTER CO., SC (WSPA) – A pilot is in the hospital after a helicopter belonging to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division crash at an airport in Dorchester County, Wednesday afternoon.
According to SLED, the helicopter went down around 4 p.m. at the Summerville Airport.
The pilot was the only one on board and was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
He was treated and released from the hospital the same night.
SLED said this is the first time one of their helicopters has crashed in the agency’s history.
The FAA will continue to investigate the crash.
