Stolen car recovered after abandoned in creek in Spartanburg Co.

SPARTANBURG, SC (WSPA) One lane of Hayne Street in Spartanburg was shut down Monday morning as crews removed a car from Fairforest Creek.

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper Joe Hovis, no one was inside the vehicle when crews arrived.

Hovis did say that the vehicle was reported as stolen.

Una Fire Department says a dive team was called to check on the vehicle and that nobody was found inside.

Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office officials confirmed with us that the vehicle pulled from the creek was a recovered stolen vehicle that was abandoned. 

Lt. Kevin Bobo said the incident is under investigation at this time.
