SIMPSONVILLE, SC (WSPA) – A student was arrested Wednesday morning after getting into a fight with a school resource officer at Hillcrest High School, according to a spokesperson for the city of Simpsonville.

Greenville Co. Schools says a parent asked the officer and principal for help with her daughter during drop off.

The parent told them she and her daughter, who is a student, were having an argument in the front parking lot.

The student approached the school and was belligerent with the SRO and administration and refused to calm down.

They warned the student several times before she was arrested.

She resisted arrest and became combative.

The officer had to use force to restrain her and back-up officers responded, according to the school district.

The student has been charged with Disorderly Conduct and Assault and Battery on a Police Officer while Resisting Arrest.

The juvenile will be transported to the Greenville County Juvenile Detention Center.

No other students or faculty were involved and the school is operating normally.

The student is a juvenile and their name will not be released.
