Student charged after making threat against students at Madison High School

MADISON COUNTY, NC (WSPA) – The Madison County Sheriff’s Office said a student was arrested Monday after he reportedly made a threat against students at Madison High School.

According to the sheriff’s office’s Facebook post, deputies received information about a credible threat in regards to the safety of students at Madison High School.

The sheriff’s office, along with Madison County Schools and the School Resource Office, was able to quickly identify Mitchell Jay Ball as the suspect.

During the investigation, Ball confessed to making the threat and was arrested. He was charged with disorderly conduct.

The sheriff’s office said deputies recovered several firearms from Ball’s home.

He was being held on $20,000 bond.
