GREENVILLE, SC (WSPA) – A Greenville school has turned an old retention pond into a fully functioning wetlands laboratory for students.
Thanks to the city of Greenville and a generous donor, the kids at Christ Church Episcopal School have a new environment to explore and learn.
A boardwalk has been constructed so the kids have access to the entire area.
Teachers say this hands-on lab will make learning easier.
“We can talk about water sheds and we can talk about storm water and the problems that leads to,” said Gina Varat. “We can also talk about connection that plants and animals have in a very unique situation like a wetland. And what is our role for protecting those things.”
The new lab will be used by Christ Church Episcopal School students in all grade levels.
