Spartanburg students are helping an organization in its efforts to find a cure for rare forms of autism and epilepsy.
Students at Jesse Boyd Elementary School have raised more than $3,000 in donations for the FamilieSCN2A Foundation. The organization helps children with rare forms of autism and epilepsy caused by a change in the SCN2A gene.
Fifth grade teacher April Bryant lost her son Camden to a rare epilepsy syndrome caused by the genetic mutation. Camden was only 19 months old.
After his death, Bryant’s school, family, and friends came together to raise donations for the foundation.
Students have also helped contribute to the cause.
