ANDERSON COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – Anderson County Sheriff’s Office officials said a man is in custody following a chase with a deputy Monday.

According to Sgt. JT Foster, a deputy was involved in a short vehicle chase following a traffic violation on Osteen Hill Road, which then led to an on-foot chase.

The suspect — identified as Robert William Keeler, 27, of Honea Path — was captured and was taken to an area hospital after he collapsed. He was reportedly alert when he was taken to the hospital.

Foster said the man will be charged with failure to stop for blue lights, driving under suspension and for his original traffic violation.

On Wednesday, Foster said Keeler was booked into the Anderson County Detention Center.

During the chase, the deputy slid down a hill and received a few cuts on his arms. Foster said the deputy was treated at the scene and is said to be ok.
