Suspect rams into deputies, hits vehicles in Laurens Co. chase


LAURENS Co., S.C. (WSPA) — Deputies say a suspect in a stolen vehicle rammed head on into an officer’s vehicle and hit an officer and civilian before crashing in a chase.

The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were attempting to arrest the wanted suspect at a gas station on Thursday. They say that’s when the suspect rammed a deputy’s vehicle, backed into a parked vehicle and hit a deputy who had approached the vehicle on foot.

The suspect also rammed a bystander at the gas station before leading officers on a chase down Highway 14 into Laurens. 

Along the way, deputies say the suspect hit several vehicle. He lost control of the truck and crashed.

Deputies say the suspect and an accomplice were hurt when the truck flipped.

Both were taken by EMS from the scene.

Troopers and deputies are investigating the incidents.
