Suspect sought after 1 shot at Brevard restaurant


BREVARD, NC (WSPA) – Brevard Police Department officials said one person was shot at a restaurant early Friday morning in Brevard.

According to police, the shooting happened at Cardinal Drive-In, 344 S. Broad St., around 1:30 a.m.

In a Brevard Police news release, a suspect approached two people in the parking lot of the restaurant after they had closed.

The suspect then reportedly robbed them and fired a gun, hitting one of them.

Police said the two victims went back to the restaurant and called for police and EMS.

The victims said they saw the gunman running westbound from the restaurant.

Police said the injured victim, a 68-year-old man, was shot in the upper abdomen, was treated at the scene and was later flown to a local hospital.

The victim was listed to be in very serious condition.

The suspect in the shooting is still being sought by police, and Transylvania County Sheriff’s Office is assisting.

According to dispatch, the suspect was described as wearing dark clothing — a dark hoodie and tight jeans — and had a thin build.
