Teacher’s aide charged with assaulting handicapped student in McDowell Co.

MCDOWELL COUNTY, NC (WSPA) – McDowell County Sheriff’s Office officials said a teacher’s assistant at a county elementary school was charged after she reportedly hit a handicapped student in the head.

According to a sheriff’s office news release, Anjanette Rebekah Myers, 44, of Marion, was charged with assault on an individual with a disability.

Myers, who was at that time a teacher’s assistant at West Marion Elementary School, is accused of hitting a 9-year-old student on the side of the head.

McDowell County Schools officials reportedly learned of the incident and notified the sheriff’s office.
