Teen arrested with gun, drugs say Rutherford Co. deputies

RUTHERFORD Co., N.C. (WSPA) — Deputies say an armed 17-year-old with drugs was arrested following an investigation in Rutherford County.

The sheriff’s office said deputies worked with the N.C. Department of Public Safety to arrest Braxton Kelly Atkins.

The teen was the target of an investigation at 196 Cherry Mountain Street in Ellenboro. 

Atkins was arrested at the home.

The sheriff’s office says Atkins had a 9-millimeter Ruger, and also possessed Oxycodone, drug paraphernalia and 334 grams of marijuana. 

Atkins bond was set at $16,000.

He’s scheduled to appear in Rutherford County District Court on Jan. 3.
