Teen crashes after chase in McDowell Co.

MARION, NC (WSPA) – A 16-year-old boy ran from a checkpoint and crashed a vehicle after he was chased by a deputy, according to McDowell Co. Sheriff’s Office.

It happen just before 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 16.

There was a license checkpoint at the intersection of Rutherford Rd. and Baldwin Ave.

The report says a vehicle approached on Baldwin, turned around and drove off at a high rate of speed.

A deputy chased the vehicle and found out from other officers that it had crashed into a light pole on Morehead Rd.

They arrested the teen and charged him with:

No operator’s license

Resisting a public officer

injury to personal property

fleeing to elude arrest and failure to heed a blue light and siren.
