The Greenville Literacy Association will hold their 17th annual “The Really Good, Really Big, Really Cheap Book Sale” on Saturday, August 11th, 2018 from 8:30 am to 4 pm at McAlister Square on South Pleasantburg Drive.
Early bird shoppers can pay $10 to enter at 7:30a.m.
Shoppers can return on Sunday, August 12th from 1-4p.m. and pay only $10 to fill a bag of books.
To gain early access to the books in a cocktail setting with entertainment and light hors d’oeuvres, the public can pay $35 each (or $60/couple) and attend the Preview Party on Friday, August 10th from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Over the weekend, Greenville Literacy will welcome approximately 15,000 eager shoppers to choose from over 140,000 books.
Everyone from collectors to avid readers to those just learning will find great titles at deep bargain prices.
All proceeds from the book sale will go directly to Greenville Literacy Association to fund its three Greenville County learning centers.
Last year, The Really Good, Really Big, Really Cheap Book Sale raised over $130,000.
A total of 140,000 books were donated.
About 300 volunteers worked the day of the event and 500 others helped in advance of the event collecting and sorting books and setting up for the event.
The GLA says in Greenville County, there are over 42,000 adults over the age of 25 living without a high school credential and over 20,000 that speak English “less than very well.”
GLA helps with adult education and literacy by improving their basic skills to help secure and retain employment.
