OCONEE Co., SC (WSPA) – Authorities say a toddler died Tuesday evening after he was run over by a truck his father was attempting to park.

Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis said the 21-month-old boy’s father had arrived home from work and was backing up his pickup truck to park when the child ran out of the home and was hit by the front passenger side tire.

The accident happened around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the family’s home on Beulah Land Drive near Mountain Rest

Addis said the child, identified as Jacob Smith McEwen, died at the scene from a head injury.

The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
