SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) – Strong overnight storms left behind damage across much of the Upstate.

The National Weather Service confirmed a tornado touched down in Oconee County early Monday morning. The Oconee County Emergency Services Emergency Management Director Scott Krein said one person was killed and several others were injured as a result.

Gov. McMaster said Monday afternoon at least 9 people across the state were killed as a result of the storms.
