SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) — Over 4,000 people in South Carolina filed initial claims for unemployment insurance last week, according to the SC Department of Employment and Workforce.

Advance numbers for the week ending September 12 totaled 4,283, an decrease of 830 claims from the week prior. Over the last 26 weeks, the number of initial unemployment claims total 739,643.

Richland County had the most claims with 439, followed by Greenville County with 419 and Charleston County with 286.
