Tornado watch continues as severe storms hit area

(WSPA) – Severe storms are hitting the Upstate, parts of western North Carolina and northeast Georgia Sunday afternoon.

The storms have knocked down trees across the Upstate, including onto a house on Timms Mill Road in Williamston. Nobody was hurt when the tree hit the home.

Thousands of Duke Energy customers are without power as of Sunday afternoon, including:

  • Henderson Co. – 3,267
  • Greenville Co. – 2,395
  • Jackson Co. – 1,346
  • Haywood Co. – 1,289
  • Transylvania Co. – 1,288
  • Anderson Co. – 1,120
  • Macon Co. – 958
  • Spartanburg Co. – 704
  • Greenwood Co. – 558

 Blue Ridge Electric reports that 660 customers are without power in parts of Oconee, Pickens, Anderson, and Greenville Counties.
