TOWNVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) – Citizens of Townville came together tonight to honor all of the first responders who answered the call in the school shooting in September, but one man in particular.

Firefighter Jamie Brock was recognized and saluted for his heroic actions on that traumatic day.

Fire-Dex, a company that produces firefighting gear, awarded Brock with a $500 check to a charity of his choice, along with new fire boots and a helmet.

Volunteers from the Townville Fire & Rescue Department and their families got to enjoy a night of fellowship and dinner as they celebrated Brock.

7News talked with Townville Fire Chief Billy McAdams, and asked him how the community is doing after the terrible shooting incident.

“We come together as a community as well as a county, state,” Chief Billy McAdams said. “We’ve had a lot of support, a lot of good people helped us. So, tonight is basically the people that responded that day. It’s our time to be together.”
