The Henderson County Sheriff’s Department began an investigation on financial misconduct at the Green River Fire and Rescue Department back in January, after firefighters found irregularities during a financial audit of their operating accounts.

On March 9th, detectives charged Lori Coggins, 52, of Zirconia, NC, with felony financial card fraud.

Coggins worked for the department as the treasurer on the board.

According to detectives, she used a debit card to steal money from the department.

Coggins was released on a $700.00 bond.

She appeared in court on Tuesday, March 29th, where she plead guilty and received a suspended sentence.

She is required to pay restitution of $7,667.70.
