Tree wranglers needed in Upstate

A three week course and a chainsaw might be all you need to get a new career in tree wrangling.

SC Representative Harold Mitchell tells 7 News that the Regenesis Community Development Corporation is looking to expand the number of homes on the South side of town at Forest Park.

He also said utility companies are in need of people trained to cut down trees and safely remove them after storms.

Mitchell said he reached out to Spartanburg Community College and SC Works to find a way to train people to do this job, quickly.

SCC is offering a 3 week course for $2,999 and allowing anyone struggling to cover the cost to apply for scholarships through the school and SC Works.

The class begins October 10 and will include one week of in the classroom safety training, one week of trimming and wrangling trees in a commercial area and a week of wrangling, cutting and climbing trees in neighborhoods.

The class will be taught by the Mabe family you see here. They have years of experience and tools to train anyone interested.

They have no issue training someone with a fear of heights. Here’s the class description you can find on the SCC website
