LAURENS COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – Troopers are investigating a deadly crash in Laurens County.

The crash happened on Thursday at about 8 a.m. on SC 72, according to SCHP.

Troopers say the driver of a 2003 Toyota Sedan was traveling west on SC 72 when they ran off the right side of the road.

The driver overcorrected and traveled to the center of the road where they hit a 2007 Mercury SUV that was traveling east on SC 72.

Both drivers were seatbelted, but the driver of the Toyota became trapped and had to be mechanically removed. The victim died at the scene.

The Lauren’s County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Aimi Pretty Perrett, 27, of Greenwood.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday morning.

The driver of the Mercury SUV was transported to the hospital.
