Trump, Pence to campaign for McMaster in SC ahead of run-off, campaign officials say

COLUMBIA, SC (WSPA) – Officials with Gov. Henry McMaster’s campaign confirmed Tuesday night that President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence will soon be heading to South Carolina to campaign for the governor.

According to a news release, Pence will be in the state on Saturday and Trump will be in town on Monday.

Next Tuesday, McMaster will be face Republican candidate and Greenville businessman John Warren in a run-off primary election.

Campaign officials have not yet released the exact times and locations of the president and vice president’s visits, but said those details are expected to be released on Wednesday.

“President Trump and Vice President Pence are changing the world, and we couldn’t be more excited to have their support,” McMaster said. “That they are both willing to come and campaign to keep South Carolina moving forward is a testament to the success of our great state, to the things we’ve accomplished over the last few years, and to the strength of our people.”

Several news outlets reported earlier that the president and vice president would be making a stop in the state.

The News & Observer and The New York Times reported that Trump will be rallying for McMaster in Columbia on Monday.

Both news organizations said Vice President Mike Pence will also be in the state campaigning for McMaster on Saturday.
