Two die after two separate crashes in Anderson Co.

Two people have died in two separate crashes in Anderson County, Saturday afternoon.

One person died in a one-car crash on Pollard Road near Starr.

Anderson Co. Deputy Coroner Charlie Boseman says that 24-year-old Billy Jack McCurry of Starr died after his 1995 Ford Ranger truck struck a tree just after 12:30pm Saturday.

A second crash killed one person on Highway 413 near Long Branch Road south of Belton just after 1:00pm.

The Anderson County Coroner’s office identified the victim as 23-year-old Shelly Lynn Hughes of Elberton, GA.

According to Highway Patrol, Hughes’s 1996 Mitsubishi convertible went off of the road and struck a tree killing the driver.
