Two Tennessee officers shot, suspect dead

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) – The Greeneville Police Department confirms two officers were shot while attempting to take a person into custody. 

Both officers are being treated for non-life threatening injuries. 

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is handling the case. 

A spokesperson for TBI tells News Channel 11 that the officer-involved shooting happened at the 100 block of Mason Street in Greeneville late Sunday evening. 

According to investigators,  preliminary information indicates that officers with GPD shot a man during an encounter.

The man was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The officers were also shot during the incident. Both were transported to a local hospital with non- life threatening injuries.
