Dr. Octavia Amaechi isn’t kidding when she says she has gifts and talents.

She was one of the doctors who performed at “Docs Who Rock Spartanburg.”

Dr. Amaechi says in her field she sees a lot of heartbreak, but even more triumph.

“The strength that they even allow their families to muster around them says a whole lot about what human beings are capable of,” Dr. Amaechi said.

The Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolina’s helped put on this event.

They wanted to raise money for families in the area who have to battle the disease.

One mother says watching her son battle Leukemia was terrifying and amazing.

“To me it’s kind of like a tale of two cities…it’s the best of times and it was the worst of times,” Gena Hammett said.

Gena Hammett only says amazing because she could feel the support from the organization who helped with food, lodging and travel resources.

Turner, her son, needed a bone marrow transplant. She says his match came from Europe.

Hammett says she would like to see more families who are fighting Cancer get the help they need.

The Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas had a goal of $150,000 for this evening.

That money will go towards helping families who have a loved one with cancer.
