GREENVILLE, SC (WSPA) – Greenville Health System and AnMed will be receiving patients evacuated from Florence.

Greenville Health System says it is working with Palmetto Health to help hospitals and skilled nursing facilities on the coast.

The are accepting patients transferred from the evacuation zone.

They say they are working to increase capacity to accommodate as many requests as possible.

As of 3 p.m. Tuesday they expect to receive 40 patients evacuated from the coast.

They have also sent five ambulances to the coast to assist with transfers.

They will also staff overnight at GHS hospitals later in the week in case doctors, nurses and other team members aren’t able to get to their locations.

AnMed Health says they are preparing to accept 11 patients from Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach.

They say other evacuees, finding refuge in the area, who have non-emergency medical needs, may contact the Department Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) to find out about a special medical needs shelter. The DHEC care line number is 1-855-472-3432.
