Upstate man killed, 2 injured in crash on Geer Highway

GREENVILLE Co., SC (WSPA) – An Upstate man was killed in a head-on crash on Geer Highway in Marietta on Thursday. 

The Greenville County Coroner’s Office said the crash happened around 4:25 p.m. near Pearl Avenue. 

The victim is identified as Walter E. Landon, 48, of Cleveland, S.C. 

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, a 2006 Toyota driven by Landon was traveling east on Geer Highway, crossed the center line and crashed into a 2016 Ford truck.

Landon was trapped in his vehicle following the head-on crash, according to the coroner. 

Landon died at the scene of injuries.

The driver and the passenger in the truck were both injured and were taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital.

The crash is under investigation by the S.C. Highway Patrol and Greenville County Coroner’s Office.
