Upstate pastor reacts to critics after Trump meeting

GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) – A pastor in Greenville has come under fire from some in his congregation and others online after accepting a White House invitation.

John Gray, pastor of Greenville’s Relentless Church met with President Donald Trump Wednesday along with other pastors to discuss prison reform.

Gray received both support and backlash online.

Some members who see the President as divisive were upset about his decision.

Gray addressed his congregation Wednesday night in a video posted to Facebook and acknowledged those who have been hurt by his decision while explaining why he went to Washington.
“I’m here to preach the gospel and build this church but I want you know that your pastor wants more broken people and those who need a second chance to have the opportunity and that’s why I went and that’s the only reason I went, said Gray.

Gray ended his remarks by stating this would be the only time he will address the issue.
7News did reach out to Gray on Thursday but received no response.
