Upstate soccer coach faces new charge for alleged child sex crime

GREENVILLE COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – Greenville County Sheriff’s Office investigators have arrested a man, who was charged last month with a sex crime against a minor, in a separate incident involving child molestation.

According to a sheriff’s office news release, Eduardo Mendoza, 41, was arrested in December 2018 after investigators discovered that he allegedly molested a minor who he was coaching soccer to through the YMCA, located on Adams Mill Road in Simpsonville.

After that story was released, investigators said another victim, who is not affiliated with the YMCA or any children’s organizations, came forward saying Mendoza inappropriately touched her some time between April and September in 2016.

An investigation revealed that Mendoza reportedly molested the minor, who was under the age of 16 at the time, and said Mendoza forced the victim to touch him.

Mendoza was arrested on Jan. 25 and was taken to the Greenville County Detention Center, where he is being held without bond.

According to the release, investigators are asking anyone to come forward if they have information regarding similar in nature incidents that involve Mendoza.
