Upstate VA nursing home bids higher than estimated

CHEROKEE COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – Cherokee County leaders are getting a better idea of how much a new nursing home for veterans will cost.

The home will be built near Hampshire Drive and Providence Road.

The director said several bids submitted to the state are around $50 million.

They estimated originally that it would cost around $40 million for the 108-bed facility.

The director told us that he does not foresee that causing problems with their timeline.

Federal and state government have agreed already to fund the facility.

Construction is projected to start in May.
