USC in Columbia, 2 Upstate campuses closed Thurs. due to weather from Michael

COLUMBIA, SC (WSPA) – The University of South Carolina’s Columbia campus will be closed on Thursday, Oct. 11 due to inclement weather from Hurricane Michael.

According USC’s website, classes are canceled as Hurricane Michael is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds to the Midlands starting late Wednesday night and into Thursday.

“Road conditions may be hazardous in some areas and strong, damaging winds are expected, so students, faculty and staff are encouraged to stay at home and off roadways during the storm. Students are encouraged to remain in Columbia and we anticipate reopening on Friday.”

Here in the Upstate, USC Union and USC Union Laurens will also be closed Thursday due to the severe weather.
