GREENVILLE CO., S.C. (WSPA) — A Greenville family is mourning the loss of a young boy who died following a car crash in Spartanburg County.
At 7 years old, Savario Tyson Gambrell Jr. made quite an impression on his family and those around him.
He’s remembered as a loving boy gone too soon.
Gambrell died Sunday at Greenville Memorial Hospital from injuries suffered earlier that day in a car accident on Asheville Highway.
On Tuesday, loved ones gathered to remember the little boy during a vigil at Cleveland Park in Greenville.
Gambrell’s cousin, Shanyke Gambrell, said there were no words to describe her emotions.
“You see it on the news… (and) hope I never experience that pain. I don’t want to ever know what they’re going through, and then it happens to you…”
She said one can only ask themselves why.
Though short, his life had a big impact on those around him.
Family will cherish memories of Savario’s laugh, infectious smile, and sense of humor.
“His passion made me realize you need to cherish life and you need to cherish your loved ones, because you never know,” his cousin Tot Robertston said.
Troopers with the S.C.Highway Patrol say the driver of the car Savario was riding in lost control of the vehicle and ran off the road.
A funeral is scheduled at 4 p.m. Friday at Watkins, Garrett & Woods in Greenville.
The family has also set up a GoFundme page to help with expenses. Click or tap here for more information.
