A North Carolina dog is in the running for the American Humane Association Hero Dog Awards and he needs your vote.
“Sam” visits retirement facilities, hospitals, libraries, and schools several times a week.
Nancy Weinhagen is Sam’s handler and trainer. She adopted the mixed lab after he was abandoned at six months old.
“Someone had dumped him out at the local veterinarian’s hospital,” Weinhagen explained. From that moment on, she could tell he was special.
“We thought from the first how amazing he was, how laid back he was, and how he loved people,” Weinhagen said.
She says he’s touched so many lives with his hundreds of visits.
