Walhalla woman accused of trafficking meth in Oconee Co.

OCONEE COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – Oconee County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a woman Sunday on drug and weapon charges.

According to sheriff’s office news release, Rebecca Lynn Jones, 36, of Walhalla, was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine-3rd offense and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

On Sunday, a deputy saw a vehicle cross the center line into the wrong lane and conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Rick Kelley Lane and Stacey Kelley Drive near Seneca.

Deputies made contact with the driver — Jonathan Paul Craig, 30, of Seneca — and Jones, who was a passenger in the vehicle.

A check revealed that Jones had an outstanding warrant through the Department of Probation, Parole and Pardons.

Deputies also located a container with prescription medication, without a prescription, in Craig’s possession.

Craig also told deputies that there was possibly drug paraphernalia in the vehicle and told them  there were narcotics in Jones’ bags in the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle revealed a firearm in Jones’ bag, as well as clear plastic bags with a quantity of methamphetamine inside.

Craig was charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Both Jones and Craig were taken to the Oconee County Detention Center, where they remain in custody while awaiting a bond hearing.
