Walk to End Alzheimer’s draws in over 1,000 participants

Around 1200 walkers joined together at Barnet Park in Spartanburg Saturday morning to raise funds in the fight against Alzheimer’s Disease.

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s was organized by the Spartanburg office of the Alzheimer’s Association SC Chapter.

7 News’ own Tom Crabtree and Magic 98.9’s Reggie “Action” Jackson were the Emcees of the event, which not only raised money for research and other expenses but also provided an opportunity for participants to get more information about the disease.

The fundraising goal for the walk was met at $105,000.

More than 84,000 people in SC have Alzheimer’s Disease and there are an estimated 300,000 caregivers who provide 341 million hours of unpaid care annually in the U.S.
